DC Mayor Muriel Bowser Joins DAVIS to Break Ground on Two District Developments

We recently joined DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, DC Councilmembers Trayon White and Vincent Gray, and other community leaders at a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction at Whitman-Walker Health’s new healthcare center at the St. Elizabeth’s East Campus in Southeast DC. This major development project will be Whitman-Walker’s largest facility, and adds to our history of partnership with the healthcare non-profit. The 118,000-SF center will open in 2023 and host a pharmacy, substance use services, as well as primary, behavioral, and dental care.

The very same day, in the middle of a humid D.C. summer, the Mayor joined us once again to break ground at another one of our projects, Reunion Square! This Anacostia development includes residential, hotel and office building components, and it will be the home of a 200,000-SF DAVIS-built headquarters for DC Health. The core and shell will be built to LEED Gold Certification standards, continuing our success in sustainable building.

“We are proud to be bringing the vision of the Ward 8 community to life at both of these sites – at St. Elizabeths East and Reunion Square."

- Mayor Muriel Bowser

Through these projects, we’re adding valuable work to our ever-expanding healthcare portfolio and increasing our footprint in the burgeoning area of Southeast DC. Our previous project for Whitman-Walker Health recently won an ABC Metro Washington Excellence in Construction Award, as well as an IIDA Mid-Atlantic Chapter Premiere Design Award. We look forward to the completion of these projects and the impact they will have on our DC community.
