The Field Solutions Engineer is responsible for implementing business software solutions in support of Operations and the Integrated Construction Group, and to develop solutions and drive adoption of the use of technology in the field.

Essential Duties + Responsibilities

Onsite Support & Service Delivery

  • Deliver white-glove IT support to DAVIS employees across multiple job sites.

  • Travel daily to various locations; occasional overnight travel may be required.

  • Coordinate with site Points of Contact to manage all IT-related setup and troubleshooting.

Technical Expertise

  • Perform basic network diagnostics and troubleshooting (firewall, router, VPN).

  • Manage AV and Copier equipment setup and maintenance.

  • Oversee ISP installation and service coordination.

  • Install and maintain other field technology hardware.

Technology Deployment & Adoption

  • Support the rollout and adoption of field technologies (ex. Latium, Openspace)

  • Support product catalogs and recommend technology solutions tailored to site needs.

  • Stay current on technology trends relevant to the construction industry

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure all field technology implementations adhere to company security standards.

  • Monitor and maintain secure configurations for networking equipment and field devices.

  • Support data protection efforts including secure access, encryption, and user authentication.

  • Coordinate with internal IT and vendors to resolve vulnerabilities and enforce best practices.

Application & System Management

  • Assist with software and hardware installation, patching, updates, and configuration across field environments.

  • Manage software licensing, renewals, and contribute to budgeting for field technology needs, including cost tracking and vendor coordination.

  • Create and maintain documentation for new software/hardware releases and educate end users.

Training & Documentation

  • Develop and deliver end-user training materials and onboarding guides.

  • Document system configurations, project setups, and support procedures.

Project Collaboration

  • Support IT project planning and execution.

  • Liaise with Field Engineering, Virtual Construction, and Operations teams to align technology with field workflows.

Knowledge, Experience + Special Skills

*Required

  • At least two (2) years related experience supporting information technology*

  • Customer service oriented*

  • Construction industry experience a plus

  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and work independently

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills

  • Must be able to travel to and from project site locations throughout the DC Metro area to provide IT support and transport IT assets, as needed*

  • Overnight stays occasional

Reaching above and below, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending. The employee must occasionally lift/carry/move up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity to operate office equipment, file, and perform specialized skills. Needs a high degree of concentration in a busy office environment. 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position may require some travel for conferences, educational sessions, and other company events. The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to higher noise levels and hazardous working conditions when working at project sites. Safety precautions must be taken, and resources will be provided.

The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is

$68,000.00 - $90,000.00
