The Applications Specialist provides end-user support, education and systems maintenance activities for IT business solutions.

Essential duties + responsibilities

Business Needs and Solutions

  • Understand and document process flows to uncover and clarify business requirements
  • Assist in the configuration and customization of solutions to meet business requirements
  • Work with other staff members to implement process improvements within the context of the business solution
  • Identify process inefficiencies as it relates to the business solution
  • Help to define user requirements and translates to system requirements and configuration
  • Participate in development and implementation of new business systems

End User Education + Support

  • Provide first line support for end user questions
  • Provide Subject Matter Experts with resources required to deliver proper end user support
  • Help create education content and assists with creating test scripts, test and implementation plans and supports end user acceptance testing

IT Systems

  • Assist with applications installation, patching and updates to server and desktop software
  • Assist with systems patching and upgrading processes and upgrade testing
  • Help create documentation related to new software / hardware releases
  • Assist in executing applications and systems upgrade plans and patching
  • Create documentation to support projects

Financial + Asset Management

  • Participate in annual IT Budgeting process
  • Work to understand most appropriate licensing model for DAVIS's needs, determines specific licensing for new solutions and helps maintain appropriate licensing as needs change

Planning + Project Management

  • Assist with IT projects
  • Assist in defining business requirements and processes for IT projects
  • Help develop initial end user training content

General

  • Perform responsibilities with excellence in service, integrity and building relationships as exemplified in DAVIS core values
  • Adhere to and reinforce corporate security policies and industry best practices in day-to-day operations and interactions with end users
  • Maintain and foster relationships with outside technology consultants, technical personnel, and vendors for products and services
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Experience + Special Skills

*Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Math or related field or demonstrated experience in providing information technology supporting*
  • A minimum of Two years' experience in Operations at a Construction company to include cost management-billing and budgeting
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and can interact effectively at all levels within the organization*
  • Possess and understanding of business processes for specific IT business solutions*
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of IT Systems Architecture as it relates to the operations of Business Applications and core business processes*
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment and show initiative to take on responsibility when not asked*
  • Decision making, research and analytical problem-solving skills*
  • Time management with the ability to organize, assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands, and to work independently*
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and interact effectively at all levels within the organization*
  • MS Office – Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook experience*
  • Accounting construction experience is a requirement for this role

PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  The employee is responsible to maintain fitness-for-duty while holding the above-described position and should be able to perform the essential tasks of the position in a safe, appropriate and effective manner. This refers to the physical, mental and emotional duties of the job. 

Reaching above and below, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending.  The employee must occasionally lift / carry / move up to 25 pounds.  Manual dexterity to operate office equipment, file, and perform specialized skills. 

The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is

$80,000.00 - $100,000.00
