The Systems Manager is directly responsible for the planning, implementation, administration and support of all infrastructure systems employed by DAVIS at our main office and project site locations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES

STRATEGY + LEADERSHIP

  • Partner with the DAVIS' operational and resource groups to review existing infrastructure effectiveness and drive the adoption of new innovative processes and technology solutions
  • Build, develop and grow strong business relationships with all operational and departmental groups across DAVIS
  • Analyze complex business problems and provide recommendations for process and system improvements
  • Collaborate with end users, departmental and operational leaders and cross-functional teams to implement change
  • Research emerging business solutions and industry trends
  • Participate in the development of Business Solutions department strategic planning

 

SYSTEMS

  • Assist with applications installation, patching and updates to server and desktop software
  • Oversee physical infrastructure including cabling, plant and power management
  • Anticipate future system capacity requirements and recommend appropriate equipment acquisitions; assign and prioritize tasks for staff accordingly
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and improvement
  • Oversee and participate in the planning, administration and support of all infrastructure-based resources including: Physical and Virtual Server, Storage and Backup Management, Network and Connectivity Management, Desktop Management, Mobile Device and Periphery Management, Security, Access and Controls Management, Unified Communications, Active Directory and Group Policy, Systems Messaging and Monitoring and Environmental Monitoring and Management

 

PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT

  • Manage and mentor development of group's support staff
  • Participate in performance evaluation of staff, including setting team and individual goals and objectives; make recommendations regarding staffing requirements, hiring and assignment of job responsibilities

 

FINANCIAL + ASSET MANAGEMENT 

  • Oversee Business Solutions budget process
  • Oversee purchase decisions of information systems hardware and software
  • Oversee software licensing ensuring compliance

PLANNING + PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Coordinate with the Solutions Manager to maintain Help Desk procedures and policies to ensure highest level of customer service for internal and external customers of a 400+ user network
  • Help group members define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals
  • Effectively communicate and continually manage project expectations with project team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Determine scope and priorities of projects

 

 BUSINESS SOLUTIONS + CONTROLS

  • Perform responsibilities with trust, excellence in service, integrity and building relationships as exemplified in DAVIS core values
  • Understand and translate business requirements and make decisions for technology to support organizational needs and anticipates future growth
  • Maintain relationships with consultants, technical personnel, and vendors for services and products
  • Enforce corporate Business Solutions policies and recommend modifications as necessary
  • Oversee information security policies and procedures including set up network / file access restrictions, account management, backup routines, virus protection, patch and upgrade deployment, server logs, and event notifications
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience

*Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Math or related field or demonstrated experience in providing information technology supporting*
  • Six (6) to eight (8) years related IT experience*
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience managing infrastructure in the construction industry*
  • Experience with personnel management related functions*
  • Experience with backup systems*
  • Experience with storage and server systems*
  • Experience with supporting and managing multiple site locations*
  • Experience with virtualized infrastructure*
  • MS Office – Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook experience*
