DEVELOPER:CarrAmerica
ARCHITECT:Gensler
DURATION:12 Months The Dickstein Shapiro project involved the build-out of 10 floors at the International Square building located at 1825 Eye Street, NW. Prior to the build-out, DAVIS performed a complete demolition of the entire space along with mechanical, structural, lobby, and entrance upgrades for CarrAmerica. One major component of the interior space is a connecting staircase that combines all ten floors. Each existing concrete slab is cut to accommodate this stairway as well as the installation of a dramatic backlit glass wall that runs the full height of the stair. The space features finishes that include Australian Lacewood and lacquered wall paneling; unique marble and granite surfaces; glass walls; clerestories; custom fabrics; specialty paints; and Decoustic and Ecophon ceilings. Additionally, the roof of the 12th floor conference center was replaced with a raised saw tooth steel and glass structure. A new stair connects the conference center to a glass-enclosed entry that guides guests through a covered walkway to a renovated and covered rooftop terrace. DAVIS joint ventured with Corbett Construction on this project due to their enduring relationship with Dickstein Shapiro on smaller construction projects. AWARDS:Award of Merit
